I am always trying to make the most delicious nourishing smoothies for breakfast, but haven’t made one yet that I felt was worthy of a blog post.. Until now! I recently picked up some new protein powder (hemp) and wanted to try it, so I added my staple ingredients – banana and pineapple and threw in some mango and strawberries with my new hemp protein, chia seeds and a mejooled date for sweetness. Oh my word. It was like drinking candy. I mean.. Of course it wasn’t really – it wasn’t full of high fructose whatevers and unnatural dyes – but it was just sweet enough that I could have it for breakfast ( or dessert!). The key is to not over think it and don’t try to add too many healthy ingredients – I once tried to make a smoothie with spirulina powder and maca powder and it turned out grey!
My inspiring smoothie recipe is below:
1 cup fresh/frozen mix of strawberries/mango/pineapple
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons hemp protein powder
1/2-1 cup ice cold water
1 mejooled date (pitted)
Simply add all the ingredients to a blender and mix until smooth! For a runnier consistency add more water. Ta-Da! It’s that simple! And delicious!
