I seriously enjoy looking at the colour this smoothie creates. It’s the most amazing shade of purple, not what you’d expect from your food! Of course it’s packed with nutrients and vitamins and absolutely NO artificial colouring or dyes. The wild blueberries are what give this smoothie is wonderful colour, mixed with some crushed almonds and almond milk to soften the deep purple blue of the berries it becomes this wizard like purple colour.
I’ve been incorporating smoothies in to my breakfasts for a few months now and I really love how they make me feel. Since you can add some much to a single smoothie I’m able to get all my omegas, B vitamins, proteins and energy boosts to help get me through the mornings. When I make smoothies in the morning I find I can have more fruits and superfoods then I would eat just on its own. Of course when you make a smoothie with such a cool colour it become all the more desirable to drink!
Here’s the recipe and the relative nutrients:
1/2 cup blueberries (Antioxidants)
1 ripe banana (Potassium)
1/2 cup almond milk (Protein)
2 tbsp crushed almonds (Protein)
1 tbsp chia seeds (Omega’s)
1 tbsp oats (Protein)
1 tbsp superfood (Maca, Baobab, Lucuma, Acai)
Sprinkle of bee pollen (B Vitamins, Amino Acids, Omegas, Protein)
Add all ingredients to a blender and mix until smooth! If your smoothie is too thick, add a bit more almond milk. Pour into your favourite cup/mug, sprinkle with bee pollen and enjoy.
