The Benefits of Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass is one of the most amazing natural medicines we can put into our bodies. Two small ounces of Wheatgrass can be equivalent to five pounds of fresh raw organic vegetables. It is higher in Vitamin A than carrots and higher in Vitamin C than any orange! Here’s an important note for vegetarians and vegans – Wheatgrass contains the full spectrum of B Vitamins, which are usually harder to get from a plant based diet. Wheatgrass is also a complete source of protein, contains all essential amino acids that are very easily absorbed into our bodies. The Hippocrates Health Insitute states that the protein from wheatgrass ‘is in the form of poly peptides, simpler and shorter chains of amino acids that the body uses more efficiently in the blood stream and tissues’. Wheatgrass is also a detoxifier for the blood and liver. It helps neutralize toxins  including heavy metals, pollutants and carcinogens that may be stored in our body tissues and organs.

Wheatgrass is best consumed fresh within a few minutes of juicing to obtain the most amounts of enzymes and nutrients. It is suggested to take it undiluted and on an empty stomach so that it can be absorbed for efficiently. Powdered and freeze dried versions are less effective than fresh Wheatgrass, in fact the Hippocrates Health Insititute performed a study and found that ‘wheatgrass supplements and freeze dried powders are only two percent as effective as fresh juiced wheatgrass when it is consumed within fifteen minutes. These nutrients quickly begin to oxidize (break down) shortly after juicing’ they continue by saying ‘When it is consumed fresh it is a living food and has bio-electricity. This high vibration energy is literally the life force within the living juice. This resource of life-force energy can potentially unleash powerful renewing vibrations and greater connectivity to one’s inner being. These powerful nutrients can also prevent DNA destruction and help protect us from the ongoing effects of pre-mature aging and cellular breakdown. Wheatgrass is also extremely high in chlorophyll, which has amazing healing properties including detoxifying and cleansing the blood. Medical studies praise Wheatgrass in its ability to aid in the cure of anemia and reduces the need for blood transfusions. It has been said that drinking Wheatgrass is like drinking a glass of sunshine.

Now, I know all the information up there supports drinking wheatgrass pure and fresh, but there are some of us what don’t have wheatgrass juicers or juicers at all. What are we to do? It is of my opinion that drinking Wheatgrass, if diluted minimally can still be beneficial to the body. I’ve come up with an easy way to juice wheatgrass without purchasing an expensive juicer.

Ingredients:
2 Handfuls of fresh Wheatgrass
3 tbsp purified water

Method:
Place both ingredients in your nutribullet (or magic bullet) and mix until the wheatgrass becomes extremely pulpy. Pour through strainer into a cup, press down to ensure all juice is squeezed from pulp and drink away!
