Ok so I think I want to start a new series here on HBL (what else is new?!) about food trends that are happening and gaining popularity! I think it’s a fun way to highlight all the new (and not so new) wellness things people are getting into and trying and of course I’m super exciting that my first feature includes Turmeric!
It’s my absolute favourite ingredient. With my endometriosis, I’d been dealing with pain for years and after the help of a naturopathic doctor I came off all medications and was able to use Turmeric to manage my symptoms. It holds a close place in my heart. So I’m over the moon excited about it being featured in lattes now annnnnd that there are actually places serving them up!
Turmeric is a natural anti inflammatory and is in the same family as ginger. It’s what gives curry and mustard that beautiful yellow color! You can find turmeric powder anywhere and you may have noticed it popping up in full form in some health stores. Curcumin, a component of turmeric holds the anti inflammatory properties and is actually what I take for pain. It’s an incredible root plant and if you haven’t tried it yet – you need to!
