I had read a bunch of books, blogs and information before my delivery and I have to say there wasn’t anything that could have prepared me for life after delivery. Post Partum is a huge thing and any woman whose ever given birth knows you’ll experience it in some way. I don’t think we talk about it enough and I don’t know if there’s a lot of women that know there’s products out there to help with healing afterwards. So I’ve put this post together because it’s one I wish I stumbled across when I was pregnant!
My delivery, looking back, was exciting. Becoming a mom for the first time is just.. amazing. Holding your baby for the very first time is beyond words. Growing a tiny human is incredible. I have to say my experience was far more positive than negative but it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. My labor went for 24 hours and I did end up taking an epidural because in that moment I felt I needed it. I’m thankful now that I did because it significantly helped with healing as I was numb for quite a few hours afterwards. I was required to stay in the hospital for 2 days after so they could monitor my healing so.. it wasn’t a perfect delivery or post partum experience.
I had purchased a few of the listed items pre delivery so I had them ready with me at the hospital and was so so thankful I did! Even if you think your going to have that ‘perfect’ delivery.. just.. have a backup plan anyways. Because there’s no way to know for sure how your delivery is going to go. And as your momma always told you: ‘It’s better to be safe than sorry’.
(This post isn’t for Post Partum Depression or products related to depression)
Post Partum Essentials for New Moms
This was a great and practical purchase! It included some sit bath bags (you’ll love using them in a warm bath post delivery), nipple cream (helpful if your breastfeeding) and perineum push balm (to help sooth the sore area)
Yep. They’re simply witch hazel poured onto large pads and frozen to help with swelling and discomfort. These were amazing! Witch hazel is great for healing, I got the lavender witch hazel to increase the anti-bacterial properties and help keep that area clean
Because there’s no where for you to store those frozen witch hazel pads these were great for swelling during the first few days!
Need I say more?..
This was just nice to spray and cool the area as well as sanitize and refresh
I love using this for bath nights to relax and unwind, plus its designed to help the perennial area to heal
I loved and still love slathering this all over my belly to help moisturize and reduce any stretching
Now, these are all simply products I actually used! There’s no pressure to purchase all of them or any of them. I simply hope this is helpful to anyone who may be pregnant or who may know someone whose pregnant. I would have loved more posts like this with helpful suggestions for post part care!
Enjoy and stay balanced,
